Schedule of  USMS Long Distance / Open Water Events
USMS Open Water Swims/ GLOWS swim series:
This series will emphasize participation and will award those swimmers with the most participation points with some yet-to-be-determined huge award AND bragging rights.

The GLOWS series will give points for place awards, similar to the USMS Long Distance All Star awards (USMS Rule 305.12.1) and announce the top finishers at the Great Lakes Zone meeting held at the USAS Convention in September 2010 in Dallas, TX.
 
A swimmer shall earn points for a top 10 finish in each GLOWS event in the following manner:  1st: 22 points, 2nd: 18 points, 3rd: 16 points, 4th: 14 points, 5th: 12 points, 6th: 10 points, 7th: 8 points, 8th: 6 points, 9th: 4 points, 10th: 2 points

A swimmer shall earn 10 points for participating in a GLOWS event.  Credit is given for starting a race or attending, if the event is cancelled on race day.

The running GLOW points tally will be available online throughout the duration of the series.

•    Pittsburgh, PA 1.2, 2.4 & White Knuckle, July 11th, Search for Monongy 
•    Noblesville, IN 10K, July 17th USMS National Championship 
•    Cleveland, OH 1 – 2 miles, July 24, Edgewater State Park
•    Louisville, KY .5, 1.2 & 2.4 miles, August 14, Cardinal Harbor
•    Madison, WI 2.4miles, Saturday, August 21, Lake Monona 
•    Chicago, IL 2.5K or 5K, September 10th Big Shoulders Swim
